When your heat pump fails or is not functioning properly, it could be a myriad of problems. The pump may not run, the unit may short cycle, or the automatic defrost cycle may malfunction. There are all common reasons you might need your heat pump repaired. Below are some typical symptoms to look out for.
- Heat Pump Does Not Heat - Heat is not coming on even though your thermostat is set above room temperature.
- Heat Pump is Frozen Up - The unit of the heat is frozen up.
- Heat Pump Provides Insufficient Heat - Your heat pump is producing much cooler air than normal. Remember, heat pumps do not discharge air that is as hot as a regular gas forced-air furnace.
- Heat Pump Turns On & Off Too Frequently - Your heat pump is cycling on and off too frequently.
- Temperature Swing - The room temperature swings more than about 3 degrees F. between when the heat pump goes off and on again.
- Inconsistent Temperature - The room temperature rises higher or drops lower than the set temperature on the thermostat.
